Well m68k is very easy to code in assembler compared to many other CPU's.

Bob Yannes developed SID chip so why not use Ensoniq 5503DOC for future kiwi's?

Before I decided to use the SID I really considered the DOC chip (I have an Apple IIgs here). I had some chat with Rainer back then. The 5503DOC is a bus master in a 6809 system. It generates E/Q signals and uses the bus when E=0. Thus you would have to synchronize CPU and DOC or use a seperate bus (with a dedicated CPU). All in all it's more complex and last but not least, I am no musician/composer, thus I decided to use the SID where plenty of nice music is available.

I just found YM278B-F and YAC513-M chips so maybe I design some sort of add on card. There seems to be no stock for YRW801 ROM chips and YSS225 sound FX processor chips?

An image of the YRW801 ROM can be found here YRW801.ROM Its a 16Mb Rom I found the spec sheet , a 27C160 seems to be an equivalent part.

Thanks Chris! I also ordered Philips and Sanyo alternatives for that DAC chip as they are told to have better sound quality.

Fits with room to spare, maybe 0.5mm larger all around than a SID.
