Re: Who wants a Kiwi?

Hi Chris, oh yes, I noticed that as well. It's no problem for me but there is enough space on the left though. Thus I could change this. BTW, The reason for the white screen was caused by a short at the ethernet chip. I really need new solder paste... Well, my Revision 2 is up and running since 15 ...

Re: Who wants a Kiwi?

Wow, almost done. I am still missing a couple parts. Either really missing or in another part-box. While soldering I stumbled on a few issues: ⋅  C59 and C60 (the capacitors near the 30 pin SIMM) should be tantalum. Usual capacitors might be too slow (I didn't note this in the part-list)....

Alternative OS?

HI All, This dropped into my mailbox this morning so I thought I'd post it. Microsoft have released the source code for DOS 2.0  http://www.computerhistory.org/ It has made my day as my plan has been to build the computer that a PC would have been if Motorola had been more dominant in the mar...

Re: Who wants a Kiwi?

Sinchai has been closed at the moment due to illness. I hope Donald gets well soon. :( ah, that explains the delay. There might be alternatives. If you search for Rocker Switches @Digikey you could try to find one with a similar footprint. I found some wich have almost the same footprint. I wanted ...

And: I'll have all hard-to-find/obsolete parts for the next ten Kiwis on stock. Great news Simon. I only have the SwinSids and on/off switch outst...

Re: Who wants a Kiwi?

Cool, good to hear! :) I have to wait for the SMD parts before I can start. Did you solder these yet?<br sab="674">Don't forget to take pictures. :) Yes I soldered the SMD parts first, then the resistors and finally the dil sockets. The capacitors and remaining crystals should arrive on W...

Re: Who wants a Kiwi?

The first two parcels are packed and I'll bring them to the post office after work. I'll mail you the tracking codes afterwards. :) I warmed up the soldering iron and started putting it all together this weekend, still waiting for a few parts on order. Just to give it the authentic retro look I hav...

Re: SID

I just found YM278B-F and YAC513-M chips so maybe I design some sort of add on card. There seems to be no stock for YRW801 ROM chips and YSS225 sound FX processor chips? An image of the YRW801 ROM can be found here YRW801.ROM Its a 16Mb Rom I found the spec sheet , a 27C160 seems to be an equivalen...
