Part suppliers

Hi, I did a search for some rare parts and came across Utsource . They could be a good source for the "expensive" V9990 VDP: V9990 :) I hope, it is the correct V9990 (Yamahas VDP). In addition they have the CPU , the DUART , the PI/T , the RGB encoder , the RTC , the ethernet controller , ...

Re: Case?

Hi Michael! I see. :) For long straight cuts I will probably use a circular saw (with duct tape). I still have to get a few tools and can start building next week finally. :) In the end, I need some more experience and practice. So I will simply start... Thank you! I came across, that adding dimensi...

Re: Case?

Thanks! Yes I did the CAD drawing with sketch up. But I finished it using FreeCAD. Maybe not the best choice, but I want to use native Linux tools where possible. :) Yet I have to insert dimensions before printing and using the drawing to build the case. My advice is use blue tape(painters tape) to ...

Re: Case?

I got some new blades for the scroll saw. A first test resulted in a very nice cut. I am still waiting for my 1-flute router. As long as I have to wait, I am working on a 3D CAD model for the case. Here is a very first draft of a part of my design. Not finished yet, but you can get an idea of it. :)...

Re: Case?

Hi, I am back after helping my girlfriend to move. :) Last weekend I got the ABS plastic plates from s-politec . They are very polite and have good experience to advise you. :) I got the plates in "white" which is "computer grey" actually. They even pre-cut my plates. :) Yesterda...

Re: Power supply

Maybe re-arrange parts and move all analog parts nearer towards the power plug/switch to keep these traces short. Actually no, the opposite would be better. Move the analog sections to the other end of the board and have only two points where the analog supply rails meet the rest of the board. Real...

Re: Power supply

You mean the SID and the output followers should be powered with the same source? Yes. When you go to the trouble of making a quiet supply rail it should be used for all the downstream analog stages. It will probably help if you avoid digital signals in the 0V path as well. That will definately be ...

Re: Power supply

The 9V supply for the SIDs is linear regulated already. But I assume the noise comes from the power supply The audio output followers are powered by the +12V rail, they should be powered by the SID +9V. Also the +9V could probably do with some more decoupling, say a 100uF to 470uF, low ESR electrol...

Re: Case?

I changed my plans and dropped the idea with these cases. They are too special and it is not sure how long they are available. Now I try to design a case from ABS platic plates. Here the tricky part is to get a design which can be opened and closed easily. We'll see... :)

Re: Power supply

Ok, so we should plan with this as well. The 9V supply for the SIDs is linear regulated already. But I assume the noise comes from the power supply as it only occures after a while when the supply is warm.
