Re: New hardware revision?

Why would a 6502 be a better choice? Actually 65C816S, not 6502. Why it (possibly) could be even better than 68k... did you read the thread? And please no ARM. In German, ARM and ARMselig sounds to close ;-) Well, there's nothing wrong with that; ARM processor - being RISC - has "ARMer Befehls...

Re: New hardware revision?

No, let's just start with something real, we can explore; "talk is cheap". ;)

Actually I've found an interesting discussion which suggests to me, that 65816 could be a better fit even than a 68000.
But if selecting from more modern designs - I'm still voting for ARM.

Re: Forth as OS

Ok, uClinux would just be a proof that it is possible. I believe that Kiwi is too slow to be useful. At least if one wanted graphics. Depends what kind of graphics you mean: I don't expect Kiwi to be able to act as competitor to PCs with Adobe Photoshop - but for typical business graphics, gaming, ...

Re: Forth as OS

I'm pretty aware of this. Regarding porting Forth: yes, this may be exciting experience - although I'm not yet that experienced in Forth (still learning) - and it'll take me some time - but why not? They say, you can consider the end of first stage of learning Forth when you are able to create your ...

Forth as OS

I'm aware, that Forth isn't "en vogue" nowadays, but it could be perfect solution for such design, as yours. Forth "likes" to be an OS, having under control the entire machine. It needs actually only a few quite basic words to be defined in assembler - then the rest of the Forth ...

Re: Chess game

I'm not sure, is porting SDL the way to go. SLD is great, if one's going to write one program for many available platforms. In Kiwi's case we've got one platform, therefore we've got a consistency - then why the (supposed) need for SDL? It's better to use Kiwi's capabilities "old style": b...

Re: New hardware revision?

The autorouting has been finished. Anyone interested in a PCB? I need three others at least to order a batch. I'm interested. Impressive work, indeed! Please, be undeterred - this (momentary) small interest comes from the fact, that you have no advertisement at all. I'm interested in such projects ...
